Preschool

The SYMI Academy (STEAMulating Young Minds Imagination by BOYS, Inc.) is a full-service preschool and youth development facility that cares for scholars from age three to five. Through specialized training of the staff and innovative project-based learning systems, The SYMI Academy (Preschool) aims to prepare its scholars to excel as young leaders of tomorrow by combining an exclusive Montessori and Science and Technology interpreted through Engineering with the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)-based curriculum tailored specifically for scholars with enhanced, first class child care services. Unlike our competitors, we offer advanced technology programs, after-school tutoring, and activities such as arts and crafts, dance, theatre and nontraditional athletics, coupled with a custom designed facility and a low teacher: student ratio ensures a top shelf service for the scholars and the parents.

BEFORE / AFTER SCHOOL

The SYMI Academy (STEAMulating Young Minds Imagination by BOYS, Inc.) embraces the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics to engage all scholars in authentic learning experiences aligned with the Bridgeport and surrounding (interdistrict choice) school standards. BOYS, Inc. offers exciting activities which stimulate scholars to be healthier and happier, including sports, art activities and computer exploration. The program provides a warm, caring environment beyond school hours where your scholars will have the opportunity to play with school friends and get homework out of the way before the family sits down to dinner. Scholars will be engaged in a hands-on program that combines real-life skills that are designed to inspire creative thinking, teamwork, social skills and problem-solving for the 21st century with real kid FUN using LEGO® bricks, K’NEX® building set comes with easy-to-follow, color-coded, step-by-step building instructions!

SUMMER PROGRAM

Established in 2015, The SYMI Academy (STEAMulating Young Minds Imagination by BOYS, Inc.) is the first recreational and educational Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) youth sports provider. The SYMI Academy is the only organization that offers the “Wholistic Progression”, a uniquely designed academic and athletic experience that adapts and expands as players grow in their scholar-athlete journeys. The “Wholistic Progression” develops total athletes mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially-producing players who excel both on and off the field. LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

The SYMI Academy (STEAMulating Young Minds Imagination by BOYS, Inc.) offers scholars, that have already been identified as at-risk, an opportunity to work with a caring mentor to improve their ability to develop a positive attitude towards their future. The long-term goal of Bridgeport Organization for Youth Sports is to empower the young scholar to break the habits that are leading to trouble poor choices before, during and after in school and in the streets the school day. The SYMI Academy presently has four mentoring programs.

Trailblazers is the central program of The SYMI Academy. At-risk middle school scholars and their mentors participate in a structured program. At-risk middle school scholars and their mentors participate in and an energizing retreat, followed by a seven-month structured program that includes monthly team-building and group activities. The program ends conclude with a graduation but while the mentor and scholar remain together consistent and regular contact for five months following graduation. cross-country, and track and field.
Turnaround focuses on scholars who are chronically suspended from elementary and middle schools. The goal of the program is to rekindle the scholar’s commitment to learning and being successful in the classroom. By empowering young scholars to finish school, mentors are improving the scholar’s success in the work world as adults.
Higher Ground engages youth involved in the juvenile court system. The mentoring relationship is utilized to establish a program of change in the young scholar’s life. The mentor encourages goal-setting, self-discipline, and skill development that improves the young scholar’s sense of hopefulness. Mentors and scholar work one-on-one for a year and are also offered opportunities to participate in monthly group activities and outings.
Lunch Friends engages works with scholars from local elementary schools. Adult mentors come to school each week to have lunch with their “friend.” The program lasts for the duration of the school year.
